Algernon was born on 15 February 1881 in Faversham, Kent, the second child born to Alfred Kingsnorth and his second wife, Vashti Wilmot. Algernon married Ada Dunn in 1910.
In the 1911 Census Algernon and his wife Ada were living at 24 Thornhill Road, Croydon in Surrey. Algernon was working as a traveller for a Coal Merchant. Living with them was a 21-year-old boarder, William Gilbert.
Algernon and Ada had two children: Joan in 1912 and Leslie in 1915.
